Food, Glorious Food

This week was really wet...  Like.  It rained all day, almost everyday. It was great!

Tuesday was super fun, I got to do my second root canal appointment!  Hahahaha!  Best day ever!  We came home, and I just wanted to rest, so we put out the lights and took a nap.  Well...  Elder Tracy took a nap.  Whenever I was close to falling asleep our phone would go off with something or another.  A couple times it happened where right as I was putting the phone down it started ringing again... So that was my hour of napping.  It was pretty funny.

Then we went out to Virginia with Elder Parker and Elder Tanner for dinner.  This was most definitely the best meal I've had on my mission.  Barbecued chicken, steak, potatoes with roasted peppers and onions, grilled corn on the cob and rice. Best day ever.  Thank you Brother Bellamy.  Then the drive home was a massive rain storm, it was fun driving over the Potomac with lightning striking super close around us!

Wednesday was one of those rare breakfast lunch and dinner days. Breakfast with a family in the Laurel ward that likes to feed 8 missionaries at a time.  Waffles, eggs, sausage patties... Yes please!!  Then we went out to lunch with Bishop Gish and a singles ward member who has become our really good friend!  We went to an Italian restaurant, and it was super good!  Then we went with the traveling trainers out to Frederick and had dinner with Doris and family.  She's so nice and it's always so fun to see her and be with that family.  It was a great day.

Thursday we had zone conference at...  7:30am.  Then we had MoTab!!  That was really fun!  I got to talk to Brother Marsh and Brother Merrill!  And I made eye contact with Brother Haines! (Brother Haines reported that he caught Bennie’s attention during the concert and wiggled his tie and Bennie wiggled his tie back.)  And I saw Ms. Hornberger, although I don't think she would have recognized me.  Then that night we had a Skype lessons with D--!  It was so good to see him again!  I love this area so much!

Friday Elder Tracy felt really sick so I let him rest and sleep.  And it worked because Saturday we were up and out the door at 7:15am to metro down to DC for our branch correlation meeting.  But we didn't anticipate the rain...  When we got off the metro it was pouring.  And Gallaudet is  15 minute walk...  So we were drenched by the time we got there. Luckily our branch mission leader is great and let us borrow some pajamas while we tossed our clothes in the dryer.  Then we had a ward activity with the singles ward, and afterwards a going away party for T--, one of my very favorite singles ward members! But, we didn’t expect them to all stay until after our curfew, so we left and started the 45 minute walk home... In the pouring rain...  So we started and ended the day the same way, drenched.  It was super fun!

Sunday we were at the church at 9am for our branch council meeting, then Elder Tracy and Elder Parker left for interpreting at Rockville.  So I was a solo missionary until Elder Tanner finished his church meetings. Or I was a trio with the sisters.  We couldn't decide which was better.  Anyway, I gave a talk in the deaf branch this Sunday! Everyone complimented me and said I did a good job and I was really happy about that because I was worried they couldn't even understand my signing I felt like I was shaking so much!

Then for Glendale the stake president taught us the last two hours and it was amazing.  He is so intelligent and really studies the scriptures and just… Wow. Blew my mind.  Anyway, we went out to the Lawrence's for dinner with Elder Parker and Elder Tanner after that and it was just amazing.  The Lawrence's are definitely one of my favorite families out here.  So, all in all it’s been a great week.

Today is our two hour pday, so this is the only real email I'm doing cause I need to get food and that's quite the trip, but I love you all and I can send you real emails Saturday!!!!!  Unfortunately we're not allowed to go on The Mall for the fourth at all this year.  But it will still be a great day!!!  I love you!!!!!
